As we had anticipated, Audi has officially revealed the characteristics of the new V6 3.0 TFSI engine, which we will see on many of the company’s cars. Equipped with a Roots volumetric compressor with a maximum pressure of 0.8 bar and direct injection at 150 bar, the new V6 at 90 degrees gives out 290 hp and 420 Nm of torque, costant from 2500 to 4850 revs, for a fluid drive.

The limit is at 6500 revs but maximum power is produced at 5000 revs. Particular attention has been given to consumption, with the average being at around 10 litres per 100 km, in line with Euro 5. The 350 hp sports version has been developed on the basis of this new engine, which we will soon see on the new Audi S4, substituting the current aspirated V8 4.2.

To guarantee the greatest efficiency two air-water exchanges have been included to cool the air coming in and maximise compressor performance, preferred to a twin-turbo solution. It is the main competitor to BMW’s 3.0, 306 hp, with a similar torque output as well. We only have to wait for the challenge on the battle field of the models in arrival, perhaps with the Audi A6 restyling, and then following with the other Audi models.
