A few days after the Porsche 997 restyling, photos and information are arriving on the classic, all-wheel drive version, called simply Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S, available in dealerships from the end of October. According to tradition, the restyling will cement the aesthetic elements of these versions, with rear lights and wider spoiler compared to the Carrera and Carrera S.
Technically, the models see the introduction of the PTM Porsche Traction Management, developed initially for the 998 Turbo, and now broadened to the rest of the range, which electronically manages power between the wheel base. It substitutes the old system and can be combined with the six-speed manual transmission, or the new twin-clutch PDK.
The engines have been kept the same but are equipped with direct injection to improve peformance and efficiency. The 3.6 will reach 345 hp, while the 3.8 will hit 385 hp. Porsche has underlined that the 997 4S Cabriolet 385hp PDK is capable of an average consumption of about 10.7 litres per 100km.
