john mccain Republican candidate for the next US election John McCain is promising funds to research enterprises and companies that invest in and contribute in a fundamental way to research on electric car batteries of the future.

According to McCain, only in this way will America be able to liberate itself from the slavery of oil with particular reference to the Middle East, without counting even the obvious benefits to the fight against global warming.

In speaking to Fresno University in California, McCain conspicuously added that it would bring great benefits to the American and world economy. These recent comments are part of a series of declarations McCain has dedicated to the theme, expressing his intention for incentives on biofuel, renewable energy, and limits on greenhouse gas production that could see sanctions for automobile producers that don’t respect the parameters.

But that’s not all, as McCain, in addition to the “Battery Prize”, has already proposed a “Clean Car Challenge” amongst US car manufacturers consisting of 5000 dollar packages for each zero-emission car sold in America.

While many political considerations can be made, one certainly tugs at our heart strings, demonstrated by the experience of Schwarzenegger in California. And that is that respect for the environment has no political colour, or at least it shouldn’t. But here we’re often still crippled by a shortsightedness and political ideology.
