Technical data on the Fiat Sedici and Panda SUV

Fiat Panda SUV e Sedici - particolariThe new Fiat Sedici is a small off-roader built in Hungary by a Japanese Producer (Suzuki) for an Italian Brand. It’s only fitting, then, that news should make the Turin, Germany-Italy trip to reach us.

While there’s still no trace of a press kit from Fiat, it’s Autobild’s turn make us sweat to find out the difference between a Zentraldifferential and a Saurekraut so that we can avoid writing bullshit about the Panda Cross and the Sedici, these “zwei neue Allradler von Fiat” [two new allroad from Fiat, N.d.T.]. So, read ahead for what technical data we managed to translate, and have a look at Autobild’s image gallery of the Sedici and the Panda SUV, if the official picsaren’t enough for you.

The Panda SUV weighs 1,090 kg, and thanks to its 1.3 JTD Multijet engine (70 hp, 145 Nm), has a top speed of 150 km/h and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 18 seconds. And now we go treading on thin ice: Autobild writes about 24° of Rampenwinkel, which one imagines is the maximum angle of attack, while the maximum slope (Böschungswinkel ?) seems to be 24°/42° (lateral and horizontal).

The Sedici’s dimensions are 4,115/1,755/1,620 m (l/w/h), weighs 1.250 kg in the gasoline version (1.6 engine with 107 hp, 170 km/h, 7,1 l / 100 km) and 1.350 kg in the 1.9 JTD diesel version (120 cv, 180 km/h). No data on acceleration and again the dilemma on offroad terms: angle of attack of 18,1°, maximum slope of 20,3°/31,1° (lateral/horizontal). More data as they come (or as soon as a german speaking reader corrects us).

The review is very helpful. Why do they insist on low profile 60mm tyres for an off roader. I dont care about the cornering on a hillside in a forest and I can wait half a second to get round a bend in town. This car has a big potential market in the middle aged market who dont care about cornering anyway and just want comfort and carrying capability and above all road clearance for rough tracks.
