How many times in recent years have we heard talk of the future of Alfa Romeo and Lancia? Way too often, especially compared to the facts and the number of new models that have, in effect, been released. Fulvia, Kamal, Duetto…how many names have been coined or resurrected only to then fall into oblivion?
Fans are now immune and know that any new claims are to be taken with a grain of salt. But something is starting to move for the sleepy Lancia, which has risked ageing in its long hibernation that might end only to late to appeal once again to the market.
How to avoid such a situation? By returning to invest in and create new models. The Delta is the first to take this new road, and should open the way for a new generation of Lancia models that should re-instate the brand in its “premium” definition. To this aim, Turin is creating a real “coup de theatre”, meaning we should see the presentation of the Lancia Aurelia Concept in Geneva in March, a prelude to its commercialisation in 2010.
