They first official images of the upcoming Seat Leon Model Year 2013 - including some starring the sporty FR version - have leaked on the internet. Looking at the design of the car, it is easy to see the stylistic similarities with the IBE Concept, which was firstly introduced at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. However, in the comparison with the IBE, the Leon is much more ‘real’, stripped of all the typical frills of a show car.
The more masculine Leon FR is characterized by sharper front and rear fascias, a more athletic set of alloy wheels, a set-up that’s more oriented to sheer performance and distinctive logos. The new C-segment model from the Spanish-German house is then bound to go back to its roots as a spicy sporty hatch, dropping the ’sort-of’ MPV-configuration of the current generation.
The car will share platform and mechanics with the new Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf VII, thus we are talking about the MQB modular frame, designed for all front wheel drive models with transverse engine of the VW group. Under the hood there will be a full range of 4-cylinder petrol and diesel units, all of which boasting supercharging and direct fuel injection. Moreover, a Leon Hybrid is also expected o pop up by 2014. The official launch of the model is expected to take place at the next Paris Motor Show, which opens September 29.
