The Brazilian subsidiary of the General Motors group has released the first pictures of the new Chevrolet Spin, a compact-sized SUV that will be made available in 5- and 7-seat configuration. The Spin has a wheelbase of 2,620 mm and a large luggage compartment of up to 1,668 dm3, while in the passenger compartment there are 32 storage spaces. The seats can be configured in 23 different set-ups. Initially the model will be available with only one engine option: a 1.8-litre petrol engine with dual fuel (petrol/ethanol), combined with a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. This four-cylinder unit is credited with an output of 108 hp when traveling on petrol and 106 hp when traveling on ethanol.
The new Chevy Spin will be offered in two variants: LT and LTZ. The former will come with air conditioning, electric windows, central locking and a set of 15″ alloy wheels, while the latter will come with two extra seats (making them 7 overall), parking sensors and the commands to manage the audio system placed right behind the steering wheel. The buyer can also order the cruise control (combined with the automatic transmission), a 7-inch screen for the occupants of the seats at the back and an audio system with CD and MP3 players as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
