Puritalia introduces the 427, a sports car influenced by the legendary history of the American muscle cars that its designers provided with some sort of ‘Italian touch’. The two-seater roadster is a blatant tribute to the Shelby Cobra 427, whose key lines can be quite easily detected in the modern style of this model. The body uses panels made od carbon fiber and composite material, while its aluminum frame is enriched by some steel structural reinforcement.
In the same fashion as the car it is inspired by, the Puritalia 427 uses the “many horses, little weight” philosophy: it weighs only 1,090 kg which are equally spread on the two axles of the car. Measuring 4.35 meters in length, 1.95 in width and 1.25 in height and with a wheelbase of 260 cm, the car boasts a chassis that has been specifically developed for fluid handling and maximum driving pleasure. The suspension is double wishbone on all wheels, which combined with the adjustable dampers and antiroll bars to get the perfect setup for every situation.
The engine is a 5.0-liter V8 that comes in two variants: naturally aspirated and turbocharged. The former is capable of delivering 445 hp at 6,500 rpm and 530 Nm at 4,250 rpm, while the latter reaches its maximum 605 hp power at 7,000 rpm with a peak torque of 640 Nm available at 4,500 rpm. The Puritalia 427 will be hand-built in very limited numbers, and each unit will be customized extensively according to the buyer’s wishes thanks to the variety of different options that the craftsmanship of the manufacturer has to offer.
