This is not the model recently updated, yet, but the prototype known as XJ_e, a new technology study with strong eco-credentials. This car follows the projects XJ Limo Green and Range_e and uses a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) platform, consisting of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, an electric motor / generator with power of 69 kW and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The total power output amounts to 334 hp.
The XJ_e uses a 12.8 kWh Lithium-Ion battery pack fully rechargeable in four hours by a 240V standard socket, and can covers the 0-100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km / h. Fuel consumption values are remarkable: the car runs 100 km on just 3.2 litres of petrol, emitting less than 75 g of CO2 per Km on combined cycle. The British flagship can then travel for up to 40 kilometers on electricity alone.
