McLaren will unveil the restyled MP4-12C my 2012 and the new MP4-12C GT3 during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. McLaren is continuing the tradition to introduce new models over the weekend at Goodwood’s, as previously occurred in 2010 and 2011 respectively with the MP4-12C and its GT3 version.
The new McLaren MP4-12C 2012 is equipped with the same 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo supercharged engine of the original version, now boosted to deliver 625 horses at 7,500 rpm and 600 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. The MP4-12C covers the 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, the 0-200 km/h in 8.8 seconds and the 0-300 km/h in 26.5 seconds, while top speed increases from 330 to 333 km/h.
Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 driver and 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button will be driving the McLaren MP4-12C m.y. 2012 up the famous Goodwood Hill Climb. The revised British supercar will be joined by the GT3 version which sports a new aesthetic package: a Union Jack livery covering the entire body of the car. This design was chosen to support the campaign “GREAT” launched by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to promote Britain abroad. GREAT recognised the McLaren Group for its worldwide success in motorsport and as a leading developer and manufacturer of supercars.
