0 Comments from ReadersMazda launches a Special Edition version of the MX-5 called Kuro, which in Japanese means dark or black. The new car will be available from the 1st July in the UK only. The 1.8-litre engine model will be priced at £ 18,495, while the Roadster Coupe with the 2.0-litre unit will cost £ 21,995.
Among the main features of the MX-5 Kuro are the Brilliant Black rooftop and door mirrors and dark gunmetal 17-inch alloy wheels. The colours available are Velocity Red Mica, Crystal White Pearlescent and Black Brilliant. The inside of the MX-5 Kuro is enriched with black leather heated seats, leather door inserts with contrasting red stitching, silver interior deco panel with red accents, alloy pedals, premium floor mats with logo and air conditioning. The MX-5 Kuro is a car that combines a sporty exterior to sophisticated interior finishes.
The Roadster Coupe variant will be limited to 400 units, while the 1.8-litre model to 200 and both will only be available in Britain, where the special versions of the MX-5 are very popular. The 1.8 engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox, while the 2.0-litre is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. The first accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, while the Roadster Coupe in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 195 km/h and 218 km/h respectively.
All the MX-5 are equipped with dynamic stability control (DSC) and traction control system (TCS). The Roadster model also features a limited slip differential (LSD) for greater steering precision and side airbags to increase safety.
