BMW has recently opened the first showroom dedicated exclusively to the sale of the “i” series cars in London. The car dealer of Park Lane has displayed a model of BMW i8, which, as confirmed by Ian Robertson, Head of Sales and Marketing of the Bavarian brand, is expected to be priced at more than 100,000 Euros (£127,000).

The news, reported by Bloomberg News, also mentioned the long awaited BMW i3 model, stating that will have competitive prices and will be more accessible to the average customer. The i8 range of vehicles, which will be hitting the market during 2014, will be equipped with a three-cylinder 1.5-litre Twin Power Turbo engine, producing an output of 223 hp and 300 Nm of torque.

The supercharged engine delivers power to the rear axle, while the front axle is powered by an electric motor that produces 131 hp alone. In combined mode the i8 reaches 100 km/h from standstill in less than 5 seconds, with fuel consumption rated at an average of 3 litres per 100 km on different tracks.
