Skoda has released some official teasers and some new images of the Rapid, the upcoming saloon model from the Czech house that will probably not be developed on the MQB modular platform of the Volkswagen Group as previously rumoured. The new compact sedan from Skoda will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in September, and should hit the European dealerships right after that.
As previously reported, the car should have a starting price of around 13,000 €, and should come with a well-provided standard equipment that may convince many customers to buy it in the light of its good value-for-money. As for the engine range, it is likely to include the 1.2-litre TSI unit in both 85 hp and 105 hp configurations as well as the 1.6-litre TDI, which will have a reduced output of about 140 hp in order to avoid being too tempting for the potential buyers of the Skoda Octavia.
This new B-segment 4-door car measures 4.30 meters in length and sports pretty compact aesthetics characterized by many straight lines. The style of the Czech manufacturer is clearly visible at the front with square-shaped headlights and a brand new grille. The rear end is also very clean and simple in an attempt to make the car look elegant and sober, and it suits the overall design of the car just perfectly.
