After the restyling of the Sl, the M-Class and the B-Class, Mercedes is continuing with its philosophy of renewal, lending to the A-Class an air of luxury.

The aesthetic changes as per tradition are marginal and based on continuity: the front headlights have been enlarged and are less almond-shaped, while the bumper is more edgy, taking on a “V” form.

The bigger news relates to the engine range, enriched with a new 1.6 litre diesel motor originating from the BlueEfficiency family: the A150 Cdi has 95 hp of power and consumes (5.8l/100km) and pollutes (119g/km) like a smaller car. Praise must go to other modifications, including the low-roll resistence and refined aerodynamics of the tyres.

The stop-start system has also debuted, adopted for the petrol 150 and 170 versions, and its fuel efficiency can be appreciated. The least thirsty version is the 160CDI with its older 2.0-litre 82hp diesel that consumes only 4.5 litres per 100 kilometres, compared to the previous series’ 4.9.
