Newborn German tuning company Sareni United presents its first offspring: a tuning package that will turn the Chevrolet Camaro into a proper GT race car. The model is the brainchild of Sareni United’s boss and founder Mr. Hans Reiter - already a well-known character in the tuning’s world thanks to its past at Reiter Engineering - who put together a team of 12 engineers to develop a proper racer out of the popular American muscle car. One of the main goals of the project was to make it cost-effective, meaning that the resulting model had to be a proper race car but also had to be ‘cheap’ enough to lure new teams and motorsports enthusiasts into the real racing game.
The Chevrolet Camaro GT3 by Sareni United is powered by a 7.9-litre V8 producing an output of 650 hp and 800 Nm (590 ft/lb) of peak torque. This unit has been developed by US engine specialist Katech and is mated to a super light Holinger sequential gearbox with rocker switch on the steering wheel. Planned overhauls for the engine and gearbox are at 5,000 kilometers and other parts at 10,000 km.
According to the tuner, the first tests with the prototype went extremely well, so much so that leading developer Franz Russegger went as far as saying that “The Camaro is fast and the lap times are similar to the Lamborghini Gallardo. We had hoped for this result but there is still a lot of work to do”. YACO Racing Team from Germany is the first team to order two Sereni United’s Camaros, which will be used in the ADAC GT Masters races in Germany in 2012. The cars will be delivered in March, in time for the debut of the Camaro GT in Oschersleben (April 12th – 14th). Click on the ‘Continue reading’ link below the thumbnails to see the specs.
