The new BMW 1-Series Coupe, that is rumored to be called 2-series, should not appear on the market for another 2 years, at least in the US. This is what North America BMW M Brand Manager Matt Russell revealed in an interview with website egmcartech.com: “So far, the 1-Series five-door hatchback was redesigned for Europe and is currently on sale. As for the 1-Series coupe and convertible, they’ll continue in the US in their current form as we know them for another one to two model years”.
It is fair to assume that the same time-table will be applied to the European markets as well. Talking about the 1-Series M Coupe, Mr.Russel confirmed that a successor of the current model will also appear whenever the next generation will arrive, but at the moment it is just too early to think about. He also said that BMW M engineers would love to do cars like the 1-Series M Coupe every year, but obviously that is simply not possible. We just have to wait.
