Mercedes just released a one-minute long video starring the C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series lapping the Laguna Seca circuit. As previously reported, our buddies from Autoblog.it already met this car ‘in the metal’ at a recent event that Mercedes-Benz organized at the famous Californian race track to introduce the new SL Roadster, and they also got the chance to sit on the passenger seat of a SLS AMG while professional racer Bernd Schneider showed them how the real pros drive on the world-famous circuit.
However, this new video basically tells you all there is to know about the model. As we know, the Mercedes C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series is powered by a 6.3-litre engine developing 517 hp with 620 Nm of peak torque, which makes it go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4,2 seconds with a self-imposed top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). Its sporty aesthetics surely adds up to the appeal of the model, which is definitely more track-oriented than the standard C 63 AMG Coupe, but some people pointed out that the large and flashy rear spoiler is probably a little ‘too much’, and that other fancy bits such as the flics on the sides of the front bumper are somewhat spoiling the elegance of the model, but we think that these criticisms are missing the point: the Black Series is meant to represent the maximum expression of the C63 in terms of sheer performance, hence the aerodynamic kit is totally functional to this purpose. After all, Mercedes didn’t shave off 196 kg from the standard model to make an ‘elegant’ coupe, and we think it looks just great anyway.
