
South Korea’s Kia Motors Corporation announced its global sales figures for October 2011 recording a total of 216,603 units sold, meaning a year-on-year increase of 18.8%. More specifically, the car maker registered a 41.4% increase in China, 35.4% in Europe, 20.1% in North America and 10.7% in other markets, losing ground at home only with a -4.3%.
Cumulatively, during the first ten months of 2011, Kia’s sales have increased by a staggering 18.2% year-on-year, reaching 2,044,225 units sold worldwide. The B-segment model Rio clinched the top spot for most successful Kia car of the month with 33,797 units sold. Senior Executive Vice President & COO Tae-Hyun said that “The all-new Picanto and Rio compact vehicles have been earning praise from motoring media and consumers alike, and have provided a boost to sales heading into the remainder of 2011”.
