Lancia Thema 2010: renderings from InfoMotori.com

It is very hard to forget a car like Lancia Thema, one of the best luxury sedans ever made in italian automotive history. Especially since it has been replaced by two models that have not been able to repeat the commercial success of the foregoing car.
Obviously we are talking about the Lancia K and the Lancia Thesis both of which played an important role during the decline of the charming italian brand.
Thanks to the financial situation of Fiat Group, which is finally healthy, it is now possible to dream of such a remake, that will surely touch many Lancia aficionados’ hearts.
InfoMotori.com has published these renderings of the future Lancia Thema, in which the most noticeable trait is the overall elegance coming from stylistic features such as the coupè-like roof (somewhat similar to sport-sedans such as Mercedes-Benz CLS or Jaguar XF), the solid-looking side and the high belt-line.
The back lights look pretty similar to the ones on the Lancia Thesis, thin, vertical and very good looking. Unfortunately the trunk’s looks are not as eye-catching as the rest of the body.
InfoMotori suggests a debut in 2010, because Fiat needs time to develop engines that can compete with the ones used by the german luxury brands. We can suppose that such a car would have petrol and diesel four and six-cylinder engines ranging from 180 to 300 brake-horsepower, featuring direct-injection, that allows higher power, better performance, lower emissions and fuel consumption.
A supercharger, like the one of Lancia Trevi Volumex and Lancia Beta Volumex, might make a comeback, as the “Integrale” four-wheel drive and V8 versions (do you remember the Lancia Thema 8.32?). An automatic gearbox would obviously be de-rigueur.
We hope these renderings are just a harbinger of more concrete news coming from Turin.

15 Jan 2008 - 17:26 - #5I am driving the Lancia Thesis Emblema since it first came out on the market. Believe it or not I didn’t even test drive it. I just ordered it and received it while i was in the hosiptal. What a pleasant surprise in my garage it was!! My heart beats like a drum when I see what Lancia is planing in 2010! I will spend my last dime for that Thema. You see I drive with a chauffeurs hat. I can picture myself perfectly in that beautiful car. There is nothing like the Lancia design. The “Thema” will be the car I would like to drive for the rest of my life. I am 47! :)
