McLaren has released a new video describing the experience of a lucky fan of the English brand and the Forza Motorsport video game. The British brand had in fact held a contest by which a randomly selected lucky fan got himself the chance to go to Goodwood and enjoy a nice ride on their new hybrid hypercar, the mighty McLaren P1, which was revealed to the world at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show a few months ago.
The P1, designed successor to the iconic McLaren F1, is powered by a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 737 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 720 Nm of torque from 4,000 rpm as well as an electric motor adding a further 179 horsepower and 260 Nm for a combined output of 916 horsepower and 900 Nm of maximum torque. As for the performance figures, the P1 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in less than 7 seconds and from 0 to 300 km/h (186 mph) in no more than 17 seconds, eventually reaching a tp speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). Besides, the car can also be driven on electric popwer alone: in city driving, with an average speed of 50 km/h (about 30 mph), this could mean up to a 20 km (12.7 miles) range.
McLaren has chosen to make its latest model extremely exclusive and, for this reason, announced a production number of just 375 units, a figure that will ensure the McLaren P1 will remain a rarity and, if spotted on the road, an unforgettable sight. Pricing to start from £866,000 on the road, fully equipped as standard for road and track use
