Chevrolet will present the Camaro ZL1 Convertible at the forthcoming 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show (November 18-27). The convertible version of the recently unveiled Camaro ZL1 - which made the headlines with a staggering lap time at the Nurburgring - is going to be one of the most interesting cars of its class in terms of value-for money, although the official price list is yet to be revealed. The ZL1 Convertible will be powered by a V8 6.2 LSA engine delivering 580hp and 754Nm of maximum torque, and will use the same technical and aerodynamic packages as the Coupe version, which is easily recognizable by the new bumpers. The car will also boast dedicated settings and braking system.
The ZL1 Convertible will also have some chassis reinforcements aimed at improving its torsional stiffness, a move which will allow the car to better handle its own power. Other interesting features are the Magnetic Ride system for suspension management, the Performance Traction Management, the launch control and an integration with ESP. The Coupe version of the ZL1 is scheduled to make its debut in 2012 while its convertible variation should come up the following year. At the moment it is not clear whether the latter will also be made available in Europe.
