Land Rover could soon start the production of a 300hp version of Range Rover Evoque, powered by a Ford-derived 2.0-litres 4cylinder turbocharged engine. Even though the production of this spicy model is yet to receive the go-ahead from Land Rover’s top management, rumor has it that Evoque’s program director David Mitchell has already driven a prototype, saying that “the chassis can easily take that kind of power“.
One issue that the British carmaker might have to face if the project will get the thumbs up is to find a name for this hot version of the Evoque as neither Jaguar nor Land Rover have a sub-brand for their most extreme models (’Supercharged’ badge aside). However, we think they will surely find a way around it.
