The design motif of the next BMW 1-Series Gran Turismo will be made more clear by the the upcoming Active Tourer Concept Outdoor, a new prototype that is supposed to be the evolution of the previous Active Tourer Concept (which was premiered at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and is the car featured in these pictures) and is pretty recognizable by its more off-road-oriented aesthetics.
According to the Bavarian carmaker, this second concept version of the BMW Concept Active Tourer is aimed at meeting the special needs of an outdoor and leisure time oriented target group. The BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor will combine comfort and dynamic design with a high level of spatial functionality and intelligent access to BMW ConnectedDrive services.
BMW didn’t reveal much more about the model, though we would expect it to come with some kind of plug-in hybrid powertrain as in the first Active Tourer Concept (which had a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo engine and an electric motor under its bonnet for a combined output of 190 horsepower). The new BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor will debut on July 12th at the 2013 OutDoor exhibition in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
