There’s no doubt that the good people at Mercedes-Benz are doing all they can to get the awesome A 45 AMG - the first ever four-cylinder machine to carry the prestigious AMG badge - into the hearts of all motorsport enthusists out there, and to do that they are exploiting what’s arguably the most popwerful weapon they have: the popularity of their Formula 1 drivers. A while ago we already posted an official video starring both of them, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, but now we have just received a new one with just the latter.
MBE Lewis Hamilton, 28 years old driver from Hertfordshire, UK, became Formula 1 World Champion in 2008 with McLaren-Mercedes and moved to the Mercedes F1 works team at the end of the 2012 season. He’s acknowledged as one of the best drivers of his generation and has won 21 GPs so far, though he’s still after his first victory with the new team after 3 podium finishes in the first 7 races of the season.
This all-wheel Mercedes A 45 AMG is powered by an AMG-powered 2.0-litre unit with twin-scroll turbocharger that has been dubbed “the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world”: it delivers 360 horsepower and up to 450 Nm of torque, and works together with the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission (with three driving programmes) to push the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds and up to its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Hemilton seems to like it, and so do we.
