The V8 engine of the next BMW M3 - images, video and details

BMW announced this week all details about the V8 engine of the next M3. To recap, we offer you the full text of the BMW press release concerning this engine (pdf, 24 pages), a high-res image gallery and a video.

This engine is an impressive concentrate of technology and power. Its weight is limited to 202 kg, 15 kg less than the 3.2-liter 6 in-line of the previous generation of the M3. The capacity of this engine is 3,999 cm³, its maximum rotation speed is 8,400 rpm, its power output is 420 ps, its maximum torque is 400 Nm at 3.900 giri/min. At 2,000 rpm this engine already offers 340 Nm (85% of maximum torque is available over a 6,500 rpm rotation range).
