The new Porsche 911/991 is certainly identifiable as the 911 that we know and love, but as usual Porsche has put effort into providing an upgrade in substance, not style. TopSpeed reports that the new 911 will be wider and lower than the previous 997, with a full 10 cm increase in the wheelbase.
The next generation 2012 Porsche 911 will get a new set of engines with a 3.4-litre flat-six with 350 hp and 380 Nm of torque. It will appear on the Carrera while the new Carrera S will get a 3.8-litre model with 400 hp and sprint time to 100 of 4.5 seconds. On offer for both models will be a seven-speed manual gearbox that Porsche and ZF have been specifically developing, or the seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.
The new 911 interior should see some updates with added touches of luxury coming from the Panamera and more modern technology. The new 2012 Porsche 911/991 will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month and we’ll be bringing you live pics from the event.
