The new Lamborghini Aventador has got to be the Italian exotic car of the year, presented at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and marking a new era for the Lamborghini V12 with some modern Lamborghini design updates. Which is all fine, but how does the new Lamborghini Aventador compare with the other supercars on the road and what kind of driving satisfaction does the new Aventador give? We’ve already seen our Lamborghini Aventador road test, but what does the rest of the autoworld media say?

In the video above from Autocar, the English mag says that in terms of comfort, it’s not the best road-going supercar out there because of its bumpy ride. But the flipside to that, is that the Aventador is absolutely stuck to the road. With 700 hp and the new V12 this Lamborghini is more raw than refined, which is a curious thing for a car that was supposed to be a revolution on the Murcielago.

That rawness could become Lamborghini’s trademark, along with the continuing distinctive Lambo style we see on its cars. The Aventador is an evolution, not a revolution, in Lamborghini design. In essence, it’s all about the engine and different from Ferrari, which also focuses on electronics and luxury, the new Lamborghini loves its pure mechanics.

The comfortless ride means that the Aventador has superb handling - the steering is perfect and the suspension made for a sticky ride. The brakes are “out of this world” according to Sutcliffe, and he loves the new 6.5-litre engine. That’s for a road driving experience, on the track things become more evident, too.

The car is “composed”, “quick” and “amazingly agile” which is due to the carbonfibre structures Lamborghini used in building it. The only thing that lets the Aventador down in the supercar stakes is its gear change which is “not a patch” on a Ferrari 458 Italia or a McLaren MP4-12C. But still, there’s all that pomp and sheer speed of that new engine…. See what you think in the video.
