Alfa TZ3 Stradale Zagato

The first Zagato TZ3 Stradale has been built and delivered to the first customer. The model is based on the TZ3 Corsa which was designed to celebrate 100 years of Alfa Romeo last year. The Corsa race version went on show at Villa d’Este last year and won the Design Concept Award. The TZ3 Corsa is a pure racing model, while the roadgoing Stradale version is more an exercise in avant garde style.

That’s not to say it isn’t an impressive performance car, all the same. Zagato describes it as neo-classical, but this neo classicism is based on a Dodge Viper ACR chassis with carbonfibre body panels, (the Corsa has a 4.2-litre V8 as powertrain). The Corsa version is particularly linked to the Alfa Romeo TZ and TZ2 both it and the Stradale have Zagato’s classic “Coda Tronca” rear.

The first Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale Zagato has been delivered to American collector Eric King, also a member of the Saratoga Automobile Museum. The Zagato company is describing this is as the first “American Alfa Romeo” in history, due to the Fiat-Chrysler deal and the components subsequently borrowed from Dodge. If that’s the case, we’re only too happy to see more of these American Alfas.
