Predictably, after pictures of the new BMW M5 were leaked to the web after a pre-presentation event in Germany, BMW has released official images of its 2012 M5. Extremely limited details have been released, with BMW saying merely that the M5 will get a V8 engine with TwinPower Turbo.

The model will go on show as a concept version at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, along with the 6 Series coupe, Vision ConnectedDrive concept, the ActiveE and the 2011 1 Series coupe and cabrio. The BMW M5 production version will be revealed in Europe in autumn at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, and should reach the US market for spring 2012.
