The Ferrari FF: after a suitably flashy presentation, it’s difficult to summarise exactly what we feel on seeing more pictures of this new Ferrari, and gauge the reaction of the many Ferrari fans around the world. We get the impression we will have to wait for the Geneva Motor Show before digesting everything.
The comment from Felipe Massa, which you can take as bitter irony or happily accurate, nearly says it all: “With this car I can take my wife for a ride and take my son to school at the same time.” That’s all nice and good, but is it what we ever expected, or even wanted, from a Ferrari? (Did we mention this was a post for purists…?).
In any case, we’ll have to take things as they stand - this is a Ferrari like no other before. We’re not yet sure whether it will mark a continuing revolution in the future but if it does, one day the FF will be considered the first of many and this post will be obsolete. The Ferrari FF is a four seater model with all-wheel drive and it has an 800 litre boot capacity. It gives its occupants vertical room of 1.95 metres at the front and 1.85 in the rear seats. More on the interior design and technical details of the FF after the jump.

While Ferrari’s first shooting brake is surprising on the outside, the inside is just a new and innovative. Clearly in line with what could be considered the first family Ferrari, we get redesigned ergonomics, steering wheel commands and a new infotainment system with a five-inch screen. Another optional screen is available for the front passenger and the front seat headrests house screens for the rear passengers.
The interesting technical details on the new Ferrari four-wheel drive system are as follows: it was patented about four to five years ago and Ferrari claims the technology puts it ahead of the competition. The company spent plenty of time in all-weather testing, as the “spy” pics and videos demonstrate, taking this FF into new territory in terms of driving dynamics and not just design. No information in terms of how the all-wheel system works was released.
The FF engine is a 6.2-litre unit with 660 hp and 683 Nm of torque which introduces Ferrari’s next generation V12 direct injection powertrains. And if you didn’t think there could be another shade of red, think again. The Ferrari FF will debut six new colours including Rosso Maranello and Abu Dhabi grey.
