I haven’t used the word “subwoofer” in a long time, but the new Porsche 911 Black Edition is equipped with that, among other things. The new-look package adorns the 997 Carrera coupé and cabriolet versions, and sports new basalt black metallic tint. The colour is used for the brake callipers, door rims, soft top roof in the cabrio, sports steering wheel, instrumentation and interior badging. It’s matched to aluminium finishings, including around the centre console, gearstick and on the outside of the car.
The Black Edition also gets new 19-inch Turbo II alloy wheels, and a luxury touch on the inside includes a 13 speaker Bose sound system. Other technical features are a PDK dual-clutch, optional Sport Chrono Plus package, active suspension and carbon ceramic brakes. The 1,911 models to be produced will be available from April, at the same price as standard Carrera models.

The car is based on the entry-level Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet and gets the same 3.6-litre flat six engine delivering 254kW of power. This model will not be about outright performance though, it’s more of a special edition created for collectors and for those who want a bit more exclusivity out of the standard 911.
