The original Aston Martin DB5 belonging to James Bond and first appearing in the Goldfinger film, is up for auction. It’s expected to go for a figure of about three million pounds when it goes on sale next week. It has been in a private collection for the last 40 years and while not perfectly practical, it’s still driveable with plenty of “Bond sound effects”.
Restoration costs have been estimated at about £300,000 but the DB5 still has all its gadgets like the bullet proof screen, navigation unit, machine gun unit, inbuilt satellite phone and more. What’s more, Sean Connery actually drove this car and that, for any woman, is a winner. After the jump is the video in which Sean Connery, as James Bond, gets introduced to his new vehicle.
