One of those stastical things that you can take as you please, but the Italians are reporting that the first 500 units of the Fiat 500 for the US market have been sold out in just 100 minutes. Chrysler had opened a pre-sales opportunity of the Italian city car on its website and with a mere 500-dollar deposit, interested buyers were able to secure the purchase.
The opening sales are obviously positive for the new Fiat-Chrysler merger but it’s too early to tell whether the Fiat 500 will be able to compete seriously with the Mini or whether it’s just the initial must-have factor. For the moment, further orders for the opening Fiat 500 US special edition will go on a waiting list and it’s anyone’s guess as to what will happen from here on in.
