Saab 9-3 2011

The Saab 9-3 gets a renewal for the 2011 Model Year and will be presented at the upcoming 2010 Paris Motor Show. The 9-3 gets a basic restyling before a complete new model comes out in 2012, keeping its current design and changing with a few minor touches to the bumpers. The main news is all under the bonnet with reductions to the fuel consumption.

The petrol range gets a reduction of about seven percent, while the 1.9 TTiD top-of-the-range diesel with 180 hp has lower CO2 emissions, lowering from 149 to 119 g/km and fuel consumption is down to 4.5 l/100 km from 5.6. Power steps of 120 and 150 hp have been replaced by others of 130 and 160.

Saab has also announced a new automatic transmission and has dusted off one of its signatures in style - three-spoke alloy wheels. They will be available in both 16-inch and 18-inch versions. If the few touch-ups to the Saab 9-3 are an indication of a return to old-school design, it might not be such an unwelcome thing. We’ll wait to see how the range evolves since it’s back from the brink of extinction.
