Mercedes has released official pics of its S65 AMG and S63 AMG models which will both be presented at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The S63 gets a complete mechanical renewal with a new engine in the form of a 5.5-litre V8 (M157), replacing the previous V8 6.2-litre with 525 hp.
The turbo-compressed engine has third generation direct injection and multi-spark ignition contributing to its new performance of 545 hp and 800 Nm, or 570 hp and 900 Nm on the AMG Performance version. The new performance also matches improvements in fuel consumption, with a reduction of 25 percent compared to the current model. According to the company, the new S 63 AMG consumes 10.5 litres of petrol per 100 km, and has CO2 emissions of 244 g/km.
The electronically limited top speed remains at 250 km/hr and acceleration to 100 km/hr is covered in just 4.5 seconds. The AMG Performance kit has sprint speed of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/hr. New features on both models include Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist, which is capable of automatically correcting the steering trajectory of the car. The S63 AMG will be available on the market by the end of September.
