Alfa 159Auto Motor und Sport reports that the automatic gear-boxes for the Alfa 159 are finally coming: a new six-speed Q-Tronic automatic transmission and the new generation of the SeleSpeed robotized gear-box (six-speed too). The first Q-Tronic equipped models can be ordered starting from now, while the SeleSpeed models will be available next autumn

A Q-Tronic-equipped 159 will cost 2.000 € more than one with a manual gear-box. In exchange, you get an adaptive automatic transmission, with three driving programs (normal, ’sport’ or ‘winter’) plus manual command à-la Tiptronic. At first the Q-Tronic will be available on the 2.4 JTD, starting from next summer, it’ll be available also on the 1.9 JTDm 16V. Finally, from september, the 3.2 JTS V6 Q4 will get the Q-Tronic too.

The only engine with which the six-speed SeleSpeed gear-box will be available is the 2.2 JTS, starting from next autumn at a cost of 1.100 €. There’s no data yet on how much performance and fuel consumption are impacted by the new automatic gear-boxes.

Update: the 2.4 JTD Q-Tronic keeps the same 0-100 km/h time (8,4 secondi), top speed is down a bit (from 228 to 224 km/h), fuel consumption is up (on average it goes from 6,4 to 8 liters/100 km) as are CO2 emissions (from 179 to 210 g/km).
