The Jaguar XKR Goodwood Special Edition is based on the 2009 concept car of the same name and has lapped the Nurburgring in under eight minutes. It’s not known whether the prototype will also be developed into a series model, but it’s certainly got more racing than road qualifications. It’s a lighter model and has modifications to the suspension and engine components.
The declared time of the XKR Goodwood Nurburgring lap is 7.58 minutes, achieved by one of Jaguar’s test drivers (that is to say not a professional driver with any specific training for this circuit). The Jaguar Goodwood special has a top speed of 300 km/hr which is the highest to ever appear on an XK. The current special edition has 510 hp and 280 km/hr. All they need to do now is decide whether there’s a market for the XKR Goodwood (perhaps in a different colour, though).
