A two-door Coupè based on the Maserati Quattroporte ?

Maserati Quattroporte Coupe

I had missed these spy-shots of a Maserati test-mule: it’s clearly a Quattroporte-based vehicle, but the two rear doors seem to be fake.

Below the fold you can see a comparison of this mule with the normal Quattroporte. The wheelbase seems quite a bit shorter, mainly in the rear-door region. The front overhang is quite a bit longer, with a grille that is both nearer the ground and bigger than the current on.

With only two doors (longer than the ones on the prototype), a nice Gran-Tourer coupè should come out. The other rumour that has been circling is that it might be a first test-mule for the Alfa Romeo 169/Visconti (less likely, if you ask me).

That front door looks awfully short for a coupe. Hasn’t Maserati announced a smaller entry coming up? Could this be a hacked prototype off the smaller Brera platform? That would explain the longer front overhang (forced by a transverse-mounted V8).
