Here’s a look at the one-off Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta, custom built for an American customer. This Ferrari was created within the special project program, set up to meet the demands of Ferrari’s more demanding (and richer) customers.

The Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta uses the 599 GTB Fiorano as a platform, and is inspired by the Ferrari spider designed by Fantuzzi for the Fellini film “Toby Dammit”. The car’s customer is Edward Walson and the colour of the Ferrari is gold, the same as in the film.

Walson had the luck to be involved in each stage of the design process and construction of the Superfast Aperta, which took 14 months to design and build. The 599 is a coupé model and to create the targa roof, an increase in weight was necessary. It’s an increase of only 20 kg though, as carbon fibre has been used.

The P540 Superfast Aperta has a 12V engine with 620 hp and 608 Nm of torque. It measures 4731 mm long with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. Walson says it’s the best Christmas present of his life. And I’m inclined to believe him.
