These teaser photos don’t give us much of a clue as to the shape of the Toyota Furia concept, but they hint at a new direction for the Japanese marque. Toyota has long been known for reliability and high customer satisfaction, but that’s no longer enough for CEO Akio Toyoda who has set designers the task of developing a more exciting line-up.
A carbon fibre boot spoiler and diffuser with integrated exhaust tips promise performance, whilst the sunken headlights and LED rear lights give the concept a modern look.
The door handle and light cluster seen in the shots look like they’re destined for a saloon or hatchback, so perhaps the design cues developed for the concept will filter through the manufacturer’s range.
Little information is known about the Furia just now, but we will bring you the facts and figures when the concept is unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, where the launch is currently scheduled for January 14th.
