2013 will be a great year for Audi’s vehicles wearing an RS badge: the German manufacturer has announced the launch of four new Renn Sport models, which will hit the market next year. We have already met two of them: Audi RS5 Cabriolet and RS6 Avant. The identity of the next two cars, however, has been kept secret, we just know there’s going to be a saloon and a SUV.
Logically speaking, one of the vehicles could be the saloon version of the RS6 and the other the highly rumoured high-performance version of the Q3. The first could be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine with 560 hp, built on the new Audi MLB architecture, the second model should share the same platform as the A3 and could be equipped with the powerful RS3 sourced 5-cylinder 2.5-litre turbocharged engine with power output of 360 hp.
As nothing has been confirmed yet, Audi might decide to produce very different models, such as an RS version of the A7 Sportback, which would still share chassis and powertrain with the RS6; and a Q5 RS equipped with an engine exceeding 400 hp of output. The first car will be going head-to-head with the recently unveiled BMW M6 Gran Coupé, while the second will be the final version of a successful model like Audi’s medium-size SUV.
