Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini CEO, has confirmed the launch of a new limited edition model, designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the luxurious Italian brand. The supercar aspire to be an alternative - at least for the media – to the new Ferrari Enzo. “It will not be a revival or retro” has stated Winkelmann, giving to understand that the new car will be an exclusive model characterised by a strong sports stance.
The CEO refused to release any further details about the upcoming model. Our best guess is that the new sportscar might be a variation of the Aventador and the final version of the Sesto Elemento. Lamborghini will be celebrating its 50th birthday on the 11th May 2013 in grand style and will also hold the Grande Giro Lamborghini, a tour of the most famous Italian cities that will end in Sant’Agata Bolognese, home of the exclusive manufacturer.
Winkelmann has then openly spoken about the extraordinary sales of 2012. The Aventador coupe for example, has a 18 months waiting list, despite increasing production from 900 to 1.000 units a year, against the 630 units for the Murcielago.
