In addition to the seven-seater Hyundai Santa Fe and the Hyundai Veloster C3 Roll Top, the South Korean carmaker is at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show to introduce the Hyundai Veloster Turbo, one of the models that are going to be exported in North America. The Hyundai Veloster Turbo is offered in the United States with a starting price of 21,950 $ and some aesthetic and mechanical parts which are different from the European version.
In the US the Hyundai Veloster Turbo is equipped with a 204 hp version of the already-known 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, combined with either a manual or an automatic Shiftronic transmission. More specifically, this four-cylinder ‘Gamma’ engine with Twin Scroll turbocharger and direct injection delivers 204 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 264 Nm at 1,750 rpm. With the manual gearbox, the average fuel consumption is rated at 9 liters per 100 km in urban traffic, a figure that goes down to 6.2 liters per 100 km on highways.
Aesthetically, the car differs from the normal Hyundai Veloster because of its dedicated body, which makes it look way sportier and more attractive, also thanks to its 18-inch alloy wheels and refined interior. Speaking of which, inside the cabin we find new leather sports seats with a more ideal for sporty driving as well as some special color combinations exclusive to this model.
