Volkswagen has circulated new official pictures of the Golf GTD, the most sporty version of the sixth series of the Golf line, which proudly recaptures the GTD insignia used for the first time 27 years ago. The make up is that of the GTI, but the engine is the new two-liter common rail turbo diesel engine with 170 hp and 350Nm torque, which allows for an average consumption of 5.3L/100km/hr with just 139g/km of CO2 emissions, but at the same time it allows the vehicle to reach 222 km/hr (136 mph) and to go from 0 to 100 km/hr (0 to 62 mph) in just 8.1 seconds.
The Golf GTD will also be available with DSG transmission (Direct Shift Gearbox), which in view of its top speed of 222 km/h and the fact that its acceleration is identical to the manual transmission, worsens the car’s consumption by limiting it to an average of 5.6L/100km. The GTD has a lower sporty suspension (15 mm lower), 17-inch wheels, twin exhaust pipes, and grey and black sport seats, instead of the red and black ones in the GTI.
