After a long hiatus, Huckfeldt’s sketches are back on Autobild: this time it’s the next Mercedes CLK.
Autobild doesn’t have an exact date for the arrival of the new CLK. They write about a car longer than the current model, with a rear-window that extends to leave only a “stub-tail” and of the possibility that the convertible will be available both in a folding metal roof and soft-top version.
The engine range according to Autobild includes the CLK 200 Kompressor (180 hp), a 280 V6 (245 hp), 350 V6 (272 hp), 500 V8 (388 hp), 63 AMG V8 (503 hp). The diesel engines should get a nice power boost: the 4-cylinder CLK 250 CDI should output 205 hp, the CLK 320 CDI V6 will have 252 hp (this engine should appear soon in the current model, together with the 6.3 AMG V8).
Owner of the CLK or of the CLS should not read the “strange” definition that Autobild gives for these models:
In principle, the CLK is a license to print money: the production costs are lower than those of a similarly-equipped 4-door model but the CLK is sold at a price that is about 8,000 € higher. Mercedes managed to pull the same trick also with the CLS, starting from the E-Class.
Last but not least, the electronics: the new CLK should get plenty of systems from the new S-Class (distance control, night-vision, etc).
