In anticipation of its official debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September, here are the new “official” spy shots of the BMW X1, the compact SUV that will be competing in the market at the same time as the Volkswagen Tiguan and the upcoming Audi Q3. As you can see in the pictures, the compact SUV has begun to shed its camouflage and the prototype captured by the camera represents the definitive model. In fact, BMW showed off its X1 project in front of a plethora of journalists in Mallorca, Spain.
Based on the 3 Series platform and equipped with the xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the BMW X1 will be available beginning next October. When it is launched, it will be available in three gasoline engine options, with the similar possibilities in a diesel version: the four-cylinder 2.0-liter 143hp and 170 hp engine will equip the xDrive18i and the xDrive20i, respectively, while the xDrive30i will be powered by a six-cylinder 3.0-liter 265 hp engine. The diesel four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine will be available in three levels of power: 143 hp, 177 hp, and 204 hp. These will be identified by the xDrive18d, xDrive20d, and xDrive23d, respectively.
