Mercedes is continuing its testing of the its next supercar, the SLS AMG, whose debut is expected at the Frankfurt motor show this year. It has been spotted around the Nurburgring during test runs.
Recently Mercedes has bucked car marketing trends and has released technical information about its new car well ahead of time, supported by official pics and videos that retrace the SLS AMG testing phases.
The SLS is the heir to the immortal 300 SL Flügeltürer from 1954 and the first car to be completely developed by AMG, after its development of its first ever engine: the 6.2 litre V8 M156. AMG has proved it’s worthy of its position as Mercedes’ exclusive sports tuning partner.
The SLS will be equipped with the above V8 engine, which will have dry carter technology and 571 hp. The top speed is 315 km/hr and weight is 1,620 kg. While the wait for the debut is still a few months away, the SLS contributes to the niche of expanding front engine, gran turismo supercars, that has a glorious past in its history.
