The above video has appeared a few days ago on Youtube, allowing us to appreciate some details of the new Porsche Cayman 981, that will be unveiled in the coming days at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. Thanks to this footage, we can see that the mid-engine sports coupe from the German carmaker will come with refined aesthetics and a pretty interesting interior.
The exterior is still partially covered, with both front- and rear- lights still hidden by some stickers, preventing us from understanding how they will actually look like on the final version. Quite predictably, the Porsche Cayman 981 will have a lot in common with the Porsche Boxster, such as parts of the interior (they look pretty similar in fact) and the engine range, which will be updated to produce more power.
The 2013 Porsche Cayman should then mount the 2.7- and 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxster units already seen on the younger sister, but the output is expected to be bigger: 265 horsepower for the 2.7 and 315 horsepower for the 3.4. However, the arrival of a more performance-oriented variant has not been ruled out, and it might come with a power exceeding the 350 hp, making it an ideal choice for those in search of a small sports car that is also good enough for track days.
