German Car Fans is hot on the heels of all Audi future models. Today they publish some spy shots of the Audi R8. The new mid-engine super-sporty coupe from Audi is photographed at the VW arctic testing site in Sweden. Sadly, the photos are either grainy, unfocused, or there’s an evil white Van that allows only the extremities of the R8 to peek through. Any way, one can see that it remains very similar to the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept.

As to the engines, the talk is of a 4.2 liters V8 (derived from the RS4’s) with about 400 hp and of the 5.2 liters V10 from the S8, with the addition of two turbochargers, which should raise the power output from 450 to more than 600 hp, with about 750 Nm of torque. Coupled to these engines and the Quattro 4 wheel drive, there should be a DSG double clutch sequential gearbox (maybe derived from the Veyron’s 7-speed gearbox).
