The new Volkswagen Polo has already received 13,000 orders, before it even hits the market. The figures are not surprising given the engine range offers more choices than an Ikea catalogue: 1.2 litre aspirated petrol unit at both 60 and 70 hp, 1.6 TDI at 75, 90 and 105 hp, and the 1.2 litre TSI turbo charged, which will arrive sometime this year.
The Polo also has some impressive environmental qualifications with 5.5 litres of fuel consumed per 100 kilometres, and 129 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometre. These figures are even more impressive with the TDI, 90 hp Bluemotion version, which requires a mere 3.6 litres of diesel for every 100 km, producing 96 grams of CO2 emissions. The DSG seven speed transmission will be available for the first time, and the Polo debut is planned for July.
